This is trying to convey the frustration and confusion of being abused. A portrayal of the questions, why do they do this, why am i not strong enough, what is wrong with me, how can i get out of this?
The colours thrown around echo the position and movement of the figure while revealing the conflicting emotions within, so although the figure is not controling the tonal construction of the piece taditionally, it is still affecting the layout.
The pose is built around the questions mentioned earlier, it's as though they are banging or leaning on something that is not there, an invisible prison, mirroring the invisible prison in an abused person mind and life, or perhaps guarding from some unseen attack, with one arm held almost too far around the figure, trying to hold themselves together and give themselves strength.

For all those who suffer silently.
